\nThe official definition of a Hipster is \u201eAn urban subculture of the 21st<\/sup> century which is associated with alternative m
\nusic and anti-mainstream fashion style (vintage and thrift shop).\u201d This is absolutely true. This is the stereotypical image of a Hipster. However, there is more than just fashion and music that defines a Hipster. First of all, a typical Hipster is very liberal, \u201cRacism\u201d and \u201cHomophobia\u201d are foreign words to Hipsters. In addition, the environment is a very important part of a Hipster\u2019s life. Local food\u00a0and goods are highly appreciated by Hipsters. Therefore many Hipsters recycle, buy their food on the market or grow it themselves and thrift shops have become very popular again. In addition social media is very, very important to Hipsters and generally our generation.<\/p>\n
Hipster food and clothing.
\nAs mentioned before, organic and local food as well as recyclable clothes play a big role in the lives of Hipsters. Many people worldwide are turning away from huge clothing chains towards thrift shops and small boutiques. However, concerning hipster clothing a must-have for every Hipster is the extra-large \u201cgrandpa\u2019\u201d sweater.
\nSpeaking of food trends, in many cities around the world, hundreds of organic super markets, street food markets and farmers markets are developing and society, especially youth, is trying to slow down and simply enjoy li![\"burger\"](\"https:\/\/gibsters.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/burger-300x200.jpg\")
fe. This is why a new trend called \u201ccasual food\u201d is gaining popularity.
\nIn a nutshell, casual food is the hipster version of fast food. Casual food restaurants often keep an eye on regional goods and, as the name suggests, a casual environment for the costumers. Most of the time casual food restaurants offer the same food as fast food restaurants, but in different variations, for example: chicken avocado Burger.<\/p>\n
Can I become a Hipster, too?
\nFrom my point of view there is no proper definition of a hipster so basically anybody can become a Hipster. I think a hipster is a liberal, open-minded person who cares about others as well as the environment. Clothing wise hipsters have to stand out from the crowd and simply dress anti-mainstream.<\/p>\n
Why our blog is called \u201cThe Gibsters\u201d
\nOften the word Hipster is used in a negative way. However, to me being a hipster is great, it means being open and friendly and not being afraid of trying new things. This is why our blog is called \u201cThe Gibsters\u201d. It\u2019s a combination of the word Gibs (the name of our school) and Hipster.<\/p>\n
